Congratulations to Steve Galka and Amy Gier for earning awards from council this year.

Steve was awarded "Rookie of the Year". Not only did he take over as the Tiger den leader during his first year as a leader(now Wolf), but he also took on the role of hiking coordinator for the pack and sought out advanced leader training by taking BALOO (Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation).

Pinewood Derby

For those taking part in the Pinewood Derby on January 22nd, attached are the rules for building the car from the kit you received. Please note in the rules that there are specifications on the size and weight of the car. These must be followed. I have a scale that measures in ounces, and for the race, my scale will be the official scale. This way, everyone is on a level playing field. You have a couple of options for checking in your car for the race. You can bring it to my house on Sunday, January 16th. If it meets the specifications, I will then keep it and bring it to the derby. It it does not, you can then take it home to make any modifications. There is a chance your scale may differ from mine slightly, so if you show exactly 5 ounces on your scale, it may show as 4.9 or 5.1 on mine. You can then add or remove weight as needed.
